So how does a classmate get into the Guinness World Book of Records...well, if you live in Sac City, Iowa you make the world's largest POPCORN BALL!!!
In 1995, Milo's company (Noble Popcorn Farms) prepared over a ton of popcorn while local volunteers assembled the kernels into a huge ball (over 6 feet high) to promote their community as the "Popcorn Capital of the World".
The publicity resulted in the ball setting a world record in Guinness's World Book of Records (1996 edition)...
Ed. Note... This promotion, of course, created some friendly competition and Sac City will be attempting to regain the record this year according to recent e-mail from Milo...
The current record is held by a Los Angeles Boy Scout group which made a 12 foot ball weighing 7,000 lbs in 1997.
