Some background information regarding Chip Davis, the creator of Mannheim Steamroller music & his career...

For over 25 years Chip Davis and American Gramaphone Records have been innovators in producing music, video, and entertainment products that have touched the lives of millions around the world.

In the beginning, owner Chip Davis was frustrated by a lack of interest by major record labels in selling his "Fresh Aire" recording, a unique style of music he labeled '18th century rock n' roll', ("we personally love it", they said, "but we don't know how to sell it."), so he formed American Gramaphone Records and began selling the records himself. Fresh Aire became a huge hit with audio dealers worldwide, and they used the music to demonstrate their speakers and components because of its extraordinary sound quality and realism. The Fresh Aire Series has since become a huge success, selling millions of copies worldwide. To enable even more people to experience the music, Chip formed the group Mannheim Steamroller early on to play his music live, and began touring across the country and eventually internationally.

In 1984, American Gramaphone released the ground breaking "Mannheim Steamroller Christmas" to critical acclaim and instant success. Eventually selling 6 Million copies and counting, "Mannheim Steamroller Christmas" has led to other Christmas projects including "A Fresh Aire Christmas", "Christmas In The Aire" and the newest release, "Christmas Extraordinaire".

In addition to the wide array of music that American Gramaphone offers, the company produces a variety of products from their best selling American GramaCoffee, which was inspired by the "Sunday Morning Coffee" CDs, to the Body Ambience Shampoo Washes and Lotions, developed to be enjoyed with the "Ambience" music series.

In 1997, true to American Gramaphone's roots, they became one of the first companies to release their music and video on DVD, utilizing leading edge technology to produce the ultimate in home entertainment. Just as the Hi-fi dealers before them embraced Chip Davis' music, Audio/ Video and Home Theater dealers now demonstrate their systems with the music and video of Mannheim Steamroller on DVD. The Fresh Aire series which began on audiophile LP has now concluded with Fresh Aire 8 which is being released on a multi-format DVD in state-of-the-art Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound.

The future promises more innovative products and music from American Gramaphone. What began as a small record label sold by a handful of audio dealers has become a successful multi-national entertainment and marketing leader.
