Biographies & Updates Cont'd

Fiebelkorn, Fred ...Fred provided his current address but no information about what he has been up to for the last 48 years…
(Fred, give us an update…Kermit)

Fiebelkorn, Jack ...Received e-mail from Jack but not much news, he has a new address, phone, and e-mail...

(Feb-04)...Received Jack's update...After graduation I went to SDSU. Graduated 1960 BSEE. Went to work for Great Lakes Pipe Line til 1962 when I went to work for Kerr-McGee Corp. in Grants, NM til 1972. Quit and moved to West Monroe, La. and went to work for Standard Enterprises Inc. til 1975.

Started own company in 1975-Fiebelkorn Realty Inc.. After marriage to my 2nd wife Jean in 1984 we started several other firms- Fiebelkorn Investments Inc. and Fiebelkorn Rentals Inc. Retired in 1996 and have lived happily taking care of our investments since.

Married first wife in 1965 (2 Children) -Divorced in 1980...Married present wife in 1984- 2 Stepchildren, 4 Grandchildren, and 2 Great Grandchildren...keeps us on our toes. Lived in town until 1993 when we bought a house on Lake Darbonne with 6 acres...when I got a little under the weather we bought a house back in town on a Golf course (4th green). Please don't ask about my golf game. Still have the lake house for Grandchildren to Jetski, boat, sail, and fish.

Fished for local Bass Club. Club finished 3rd in State Tournament one year. Wife and I enjoy watching golf tournaments. Nice large pot of coffee, sit on the screened porch, and enjoy the different personalities. Also like to watch the bass fishermen from our screened porches at the lake.

Guess that covers my life Kerm. Seems to have all passed in the time it took your two handed set shot to leave your hand at just short of mid court, go so high in the air it almost hit the overhead supports, never spin, come down so slow, never touch the rim and rip the net. Never forget that shot Kerm.

Fleming, Neil ... Neil has some thoughts of returning to SD to go hunting sometime….reports that his aim has not improved in 40 years. He has hunted in CA…..Here is what hunting pheasants in California is like..October 1st..Oh my God, it's time to clean my Model 12 and get ready for hunting...Nov 1st…Put my gun back in the case. Maybe I’ll get back to hunting and to SD next year……I have the cleanest Model 12 in existence. Neil does do some dove and quail hunting in CA and AZ. Quail is OK but his heart is just not into dove hunting……has a question about killing the bird of peace and they taste terrible…..Neil followed this with a little more about what he had done for a few years...update of 3-2-2003 follows...

Kermit - I thought my views on the "bird of peace" and my attention to cleaning my Model 12 were pretty enlightening.  But, I guess you are not going to be satisfied, so here goes ...

Carol and I got married after college in 1959.  We have three children and six grandchildren, including two and a half year old twins and a grandson that is about to be sent to the Persian Golf.  (Incidentally, try baby-sitting two and a half year old twins sometime when you are 66 years old.  Nothing in the house is safe.  A martini is mandatory after they leave). Anyway, we have lived in Washington, Texas, Hawaii and southern California during the past 48 years.  I spent my whole career in the aerospace industry riding the cold war era.  Then the Russians chickened out in 1989 and things started downhill so I retired in 1996 and we moved to Apple Valley.

I played tons of golf the first few years of retirement. Then since my game wasn't getting any better, I decided to get a part time job at a golf course.  So now I spend two to three afternoons a week running the clubhouse at a local course.  And you know what -- it is fun. I call it my link to sanity.  We also do a bit of roaming around the country with our trailer.  So, I'm healthy, thoroughly enjoying retirement and looking forward to the class of 55 reunion.

Now Kermit, get back to tending to your fishing, care of sand traps, class of 55 duties and stop picking on me……Neil.

Fox, Joan Smisson (DECEASED) . Obituary

Frandsen, Janice Tate ...She did send a note and is interested in helping with the planning for the reunion. She has a lake home on North Shore Drive at Lake Kampeska…spends summers in Watertown. The card from Jan was postmarked Germany. She is there with her daughter Tracy who is recovering from surgery related to breast cancer. Please put Tracy on your prayer chain….Germany visit did give her the chance to do a lot of historical touring of WWI and WWII museums, memorials and castles. She visited sites in Germany, France, Belgium and Luxemburg. Son Tommy and his wife Robin live in Mt Vernon GA…..Jan’s final comment is that she has to begin driving on the Autobahn……wish her luck…. (editor note….My son Jack and wife Leann were in Europe a couple of years ago….”got” to drive on the Autobahn…..….and he loved the “speed”….) Jan, our thoughts and prayers are with you and Tracy.

Furness, Kenneth ...Sorry for the delay in sending my bio - don't get on this pc everyday.   I need to get on it more often so that I can answer your "Hollywood" questions.   Since I have a copy of Robert Osborne's "65 YEARS OF THE OSCAR" The Official History of The Academy Awards - I should be able to answer your questions.

Will try and fill you in on what I have been doing and where I've been doing it in the last 50 years. Hopefully my memory will not fail me since my biographer is vacationing in the south of France and will not be able to assist me.

In September of 1955 I entered the Goodman Memorial Theatre to study costume and scene design. Goodman Theatre is associated with the Art Institute of Chicago.  After a few months, my interests changed and I left the Theatre and ended up in Hollywood. There I entered the Banking field and after 27 years I retired. During my banking days, I also acquired a Real Estate license and an Insurance license.

I spent 2 years in the Army working in the Finance Dept. at the Oakland Army Terminal. There we processed and paid soldiers coming from and going overseas.

After leaving banking in Encino, California I moved to Charleston, SC investing in a Christmas Shop, a Private Club and purchasing a 140 year old townhome in downtown Charleston.  From there I moved to Atlanta and joined the Marriott Hotel chain.  After 17 years I retired last year. I have been enjoying retirement doing some traveling and remodeling my condo. Recently I purchased a Hahn's Macaw (a mini macaw).  Keeps me busy cleaning up poop.

Being a confirmed Norwegian bachelor, I have no wife, no children, and no grandchildren.

Gabert, James Deceased August 2012...Living in Watertown in 2004, but did not respond to our letters of inquiry.

Gapp, Carol Ferguson

Gibson, Pete and Mary ...Pete is using Mary Gibson as his alias…says he uses his wife’s e-mail address….pretty good idea…..Pete liked the reference in Tom Brokow’s most recent book and the summer escapades with Chuck Ruhr..Pete and Mary live in the Orlando area. I had one more e-mail from Mary…Pete was on the golf course so we know he golfs…….no other information.

Giessinger, Neil ...originally part of the Class of 54; but records indicate he graduated with Class of 55.

Gilles, Jeanette Hoffman ...Deceased... Obituary

Gisselbeck, Loren and Helen ... got his e-mail address...not much more...retired, says “yikes” about a 50th reunion. Retirement apparently keeps him busy traveling and enjoying 7 grandchildren. Update...Here is more……

I married Helen Hersey (from Mitchell, SD) in 1957. I graduated from Marion College, Marion, Indiana in 1961 (now Indiana Wesleyan University) and then from Garrett Theological Seminary, Evanston, Illinois, in 1966. Garrett Theological Seminary is a graduate school of Northwestern University.

I have been pastor of United Methodist churches in Indiana, Illinois and Maryland for 37 years. I retired in 1997 and moved to Chesterland, Ohio to be near our daughter and her husband (and 3 kids), as they were starting their own business and needed help “big time” with their 3 little kids…..We hated it, of course!!??

Helen and I have 3 children – The above family who live here, a son and family on the eastern shore of Maryland, and a daughter and family in College Park, Maryland. (The U of MD is located in College Park).

We have done a lot of traveling, including all of the 50 states and several foreign countries. We will be going back to Europe again this coming summer and will be touring with our church choir, singing in several cathedrals and churches across Europe. We did the same thing in England two years ago, and enjoyed it greatly.

I continue to do pastoral duties as needed, on call, and enjoy getting back into it on a small scale.

I enjoy my hobby of woodworking, gardening, and fixing up my two homes – one being a “cabin” (the word “cabin” being only a state of mind) in West Virginia. It is large enough to accommodate us and our three children and their families. The 3,000 sq ft “cabin” is roomy enough when everyone gets together there for Christmas and once or twice during the summer months. There’s a lovely golf course close by which I am able to play a few times in the summer.

I get back to Watertown and Mitchell every couple of years or so, as we both have families there In fact, we will be in the Black Hills this coming summer (2003) for a Gisselbeck family reunion. Guess that’s probably more than enough about me…we are looking forward to a reunion.

Goodell, Robert and Karen ...After graduation I did a 2 year stint in the Army. I came back to Watertown, worked around Watertown for about 10 years, working for Owen and Son’s Painting and one summer with the Watertown Fire Department and 5 years with the City Utility Department. I married in 1961. I left the city and enrolled in Lake Area Vo-Tech school and graduated from electronics. We moved to Omaha and started working for Western Union, that lasted for 19 years. Western Union was broken up and I moved to Sprint where I worked until retirement. I retired this spring (2002) . Now I am just goofing off and mostly golfing. Karen and I have three children. She retired the same day as I did…she worked for the VA Hospital in Omaha. Since retirement we have been from Alaska to the Bahamas….we are not home for awhile….this retirement is tough work….never have a day off.

Grant, Jim and Vernida Wiese ...Still lives in Edina, MN. Jim is using his office e-mail although he says he is retired...Hopes we have a 50th reunion and is willing to help...That’s all we can give you today...maybe more will come later.
