Konrady, Jeanette Clarksean

Korcal, Jim (DECEASED) ...Had a hard time tracking this couple down…mail to Wisconsin, Watertown, and finally find them in Hawaii, of all places. Apparently could not take the winter in the Midwest. Says Gloria did not like bucking the snow to get to work. It is not a problem in Hawaii. According to Jim, it is July and August all year long. Apparently Gloria works because Jim says she does not have a problem with the snow getting to work. (..Jim's update of March, 2003 follows..)

For those of you who last left me in the "86" supplement of our yearbook things certainly have changed for Jimmy.  In that blurb I described my relationship with my then wife as friendly enemies.  It went downhill from there fast and in May of 1988 I left my unhappy home in West Dundee, Il and moved to a hovel in Zion, IL.  About that time a old friend came back into my life.  She and I had a short romance while I was at SDSC and she was a senior at WHS.  Many of you knew her as Gloria Shenk.

Her father was Lloyd Shenk the sheriff at that time. That relationship didn't go too well as my dad owned Joe's Place and we were Catholic. Her dad was sheriff and of the Wisconsin Evangelical Synod. I wanted to get married and she wanted to go to college. Lloyd was very happy to sign the papers when I wanted to join the Army.

During our 31st reunion in '86 I called on the Shenk’s at their lake home and spent a pleasant afternoon reminiscing.  I went back to IL and sort of forgot about it all.  In April of '87 I received a card from a Gloria Schultz thanking me for calling on her parents the previous July.  We began corresponding. After I left for Zion things became more serious with Gloria and me. In August of that year she gave up teaching Native American children on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and came to join me in Zion. We bought a VA repossession in Kenosha, WI and she eventually became a Special ED teacher in Milwaukee.

In April of '96 we were married under the rotunda at the Codington County Courthouse. In '98 her mother fell ill and she left Milwaukee for Watertown to care for her.  She took a job with WPS and I retired after 20 Years with ILFORD and joined Gloria in Watertown.  Her parents passed away shortly after that.

We spent a couple of awful winters in Watertown and then decided enough is enough. We moved to Hawaii. We arrived here on August 14, 2002 and Gloria is teaching Special ED at Pearl Harbor Elementary.  Jimmy is retired and hustling on Waikiki. While life is good here we're an awful long way from grandkids and Hawaii Public Schools are a disaster.  We haven't decided whether we are staying here or not.

Kermit, my mother owned a cabin on the north side of Enemy Swim, the last one before the reservation.  My sister, Susan David, owns it now.  Gloria and I still have her parent's home on Lake Kampeska, two flats in Milwaukee and a small ranch in Kenosha. Property is too expensive here in Hawaii.  If we come back to the mainland we will probably locate near grandchildren which means not in Watertown.

So, there you have the latest chapters in the "Adventures of Jimmy Korcal" ... More, I'm sure, than you ever wanted to know.

Kruse, David and Arlene ...I left Watertown in 1955, to become a tough marine. I was sent to San Diego for boot camp. I was assigned to Camp Pendleton in Southern California where I spent two years. It was there that I met my wife, Arlene. We were married in Oceanside, CA. I was assigned to Okinawa in 1958 and during that time our first child was born. After returning to the US we were off to school in Washington, DC. After a year, we returned to California, Orange County for 5 years and then back to Washington, DC for more schooling. I was a military musician for all my time in the military and the schooling was at the Armed Forces School of Music. Following the second session in school, we were sent back to California. This time, it was in the Palm Springs area. By this time we had three more children. I left the military in 1968, moved to Idaho to become a minister in a close friend's church. We were in Idaho for almost four years and because of economic situations, returned to the military service.

We were in the Air Force. The Air Force took us to many places, Florida for one year, Phoenix for three years, Germany for three years, and Tacoma WA for two years. I retired from the Air Force in 1979. I was a pastor in Sioux City Iowa for a short time. We both missed Idaho and moved back. I spent 10 years in retailing and was asked to be an assistant Pastor at our church on a part time basis (haha) (editors note: Assume there is no such thing as a part-time Pastor, KB) and this is where we remain.

We have done the snowbird thing a couple of times and enjoyed it immensely and are sure we we'll be doing it more.

We ended up with six kids and also have six grandchildren. Not much to add.

LaFramboise, Barbara Endres ...Barb and Tom live in Watertown.. Moved there from Aberdeen about 7 years ago. She works part-time at Hallmark. Barb and Tom are planning a trip out west after the first of the year.

Lamke, Doris Wesierski ...I finally have a little time to tell you what's been going on in my life since 1955.  We've been so busy trying to get things ready to move into a one story condo.

My first teaching experience after graduating from S.D. State was in Nebraska where I met and married a fellow teacher in 1961.  We both taught math and science so we were fortunate in receiving National Science Foundation stipends to study for advanced degrees.  Don received a stipend to the Univ. of Miss. in 1962.  What a year!  We ended up in the middle of a race riot on campus when James Meredith enrolled.  It was quite an experience for two innocent people from the plains.  Two years later I received funds to the U. of  N.M.  We loved the southwest but were forced to move back up north to be able to support our growing family on teaching salaries.

We've been in Michigan since 1966.  Both Don and I taught math in the same school district.  The last few years our classrooms were next to each other!  We have 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls, and 4 grandchildren, 2 boys and 2 girls.  We all live close to each other, except for our son, Scott.  He just got out of the Marine Corps and now he and his wife live in Barrow, AK.

Since our summers were free we did a lot of traveling with our kids as they were growing up.  Now that they have their own families, and since my retirement in 1994, Don and I have been traveling with our fifth wheel.  Most winters are spent in Texas.  However, this year we decided to stay in Michigan to get our house ready to sell.  We're tired of trying to keep up a large house and yard while being gone much of the year so we are moving in a condo this spring.  We'll be about 30 minutes away from our old neighborhood and 5 miles from our oldest daughter...(Lucky her!)

Hope to see you in Watertown for our 50th...Doris

Langenfeld, Helene Redlin ...See Redlin, Terry ...and 20 years ago

Larson, Denny July-04 received Denny's new address...waiting for update... 20 years ago

Lien, Gary and Bunny ...(12-22-2003) Gary has finally been found...he recently moved to Coon Rapids, to be closer to Mpls, MN…reports that he is retired, does antiques, and some traveling. He also reports some arthritis and some pre-dementia……since he is reminded frequently that he is forgetful...

Lines, Milo ...We have been remodeling this home and downsizing as we get older so no more stairs to climb. Moved the computer and lost everything even the hard drive but we are up and running again.

After pharmacy degree from SDSU in ‘59’ I spent some time with Uncle Sam. I married Sally McKee an RN graduate from SDSU and Pierre, South Dakota. We have 3 daughters and have obtained one son in law and one granddaughter. We sold our drug store after 40 plus years, retired, but still in the popcorn business. You can log on to us at www.noblepopcorn.com or browse the business directory at Sac City, Iowa.

Summer brings us much to do we also have a lake just 15 miles away and a wonderful golf course. If anyone is interested in touring a popcorn facility stop in for free guided tour and maybe a free lunch.and samples. Hope to get back to Watertown and see how it has grown. No O P Skaggs store the last time we were there. Ran into Bill Stoff at Ft. Leavenworth several years ago...He was trying to impress us with his military knowledge. Also have many Terry Redlin’s on our walls and quite a few around town. My claim to fame is the one "Mainly Memories". Also see Zandra`s note making her famous at the Redlin Art Center. Thanks again for getting the memories started. I`m always proud of my South Dakota heritage but lately have started taking some flak on occasion from Gov Rounds' "Bring It On" ads being carried in the Des Moines paper.

Lortz, Don and Deanna ...After high school attended Concordia College for two years. Then moved to Seattle. During that time I married Deanna Rausch (WHS class of 57). We moved back to Watertown in 1962, then to Pierre. In 1967 we moved to Illinois. I worked as maintenance electrician until retiring in 1998. During that time worked 13 years as a paramedic with Park Forest Fire Rescue. We have three children, Lori, Brad and Sarah. Six grandchildren. OH! What fun! We worked three summers, and wintered in S. Texas. September 2001 we moved home to Watertown. I now hunt, fish, golf, and work some on the farm (Dees’ home place) Also a member of the Codington County Search Dive and Rescue Unit. Only bad part of retirement is that I don’t get any vacation.

Lovick, Ron and Kathy (Ron Deceased March 26, 2010) Ron and his wife, Kathy, retired nearly 6 years ago. Ron spent 34 years at Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo) in downtown Minneapolis. Kathy retired after 22 years with the City of Richfield, MN. The first action after retirement was to purchase a lake home in northern MN. We only venture back to the Twin Cities on holidays to visit our two boys and their families. We have three grandsons (ages 5, 5 ½ and 6) We hike every day…2.5 miles to get our mail. We like to snowmobile (when there is snow) fish, golf, travel. The nearest town is Marcell, MN which has a population of 9 (nine). We love it up here in the woods. In a couple of weeks we are heading for Mexico and in June will cruise to Alaska to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary…That’s it in a nutshell…(Ed. note…they do live out in the boonies…I’ve been in their country working the colleges and universities in Northern MN, from Grand Rapids to International Falls…there is nothing up there…and a city of 9 is a major stop…Marcell is about 30 miles north of Grand Rapids MN…. Kermit)
